The Everlasting Light Zone

Last updated: 1 November 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Everlasting Light Zone collects through this website, why, who can see it, and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Who we are

The Everlasting Light Zone is a parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God at Winners Highway, Behind AMAC Market, FHA Lugbe. We decide how your information is used, which makes us its data controller. For any privacy question or request, contact us at telpzone@gmail.com or +234 7010388154.

What we collect

  • When you join through the Become a member form: your full name, phone number, email address, home address, gender, marital status, date of birth, wedding anniversary (if married), state of origin and occupation, and the date you agreed to this policy.
  • If you are under 18: your parent or guardian's name and phone number, and their agreement.
  • When you visit the website: our hosting provider records technical details such as your IP address and the pages requested, to run and protect the website. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

Because joining shows that you are a member of a church, the law treats your membership record as sensitive personal data (religious belief).

Why we use it, and on what legal basis

We use your details only with your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the box on the membership form (sections 25 and 30 of the Act). For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian gives that consent (section 31). We use your details to:

  • welcome you and keep in touch about services, events and fellowship groups;
  • celebrate your birthday and wedding anniversary with you;
  • keep an accurate membership register for pastoral care and church planning.

We don't use your details for any other purpose, and we make no automated decisions or profiles about you.

Who can see it

  • Church administrators appointed by the church, who sign in with a password. When someone joins, the church team receives an email with their name, phone number and email address only.
  • Our service providers, who store or carry the information for us and may not use it for their own purposes: Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (website hosting) and Google (Gmail, for the notification emails).

We never sell your information or share it with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.

Storage outside Nigeria

Our database and files are stored on Supabase servers in London, United Kingdom, and the website runs on Vercel servers in the same region. Vercel and Google are based in the United States. We rely on your consent and on these providers' data protection terms, which bind them to protect your information (sections 41 to 43 of the Act). You are told about this before you agree on the membership form.

How long we keep it

We keep your details while you are a member of the church. We delete them when you ask us to, or when we learn that you have left. We review the membership register at least once a year and delete records we no longer need. Technical logs kept by our hosting provider are deleted automatically after a short period.

How we protect it

The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Member details can only be seen by signed-in church administrators, and access is removed when someone stops serving in that role. If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we will report it to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission within 72 hours of finding out, and tell you without undue delay.

Your rights

You can ask us, at any time and free of charge, to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy, in a common electronic format;
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your information;
  • restrict how we use it, or object to us using it;
  • send your information to you or another organisation (data portability).

You can also withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it: email telpzone@gmail.com or tell a church administrator. We will then delete your details. Withdrawing doesn't affect anything we did before.

We reply to every request within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, to protect your information.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng.

Other websites

Links to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies. The website's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when a page loads.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your existing details, we will tell members before it takes effect.
